The Rincon Valley 50/70 All-Star Team beats Petaluma 9-8 in walk-off fashion!

The undefeated 50/70 Petaluma Team had a chance to clinch the District 35 Intermediate (50/70) All-Star Championship Tuesday night with a win and Rincon Valley was facing an uphill climb needing to win both Tuesday night and Wednesday night.

Petaluma was off to a quick 3-0 lead going into the bottom of the 3rd inning. But Rincon Valley broke the shutout starting with Bryce Walls stealing 2nd and then later scoring all the way from 2nd base on a wild pitch. Pure speed! Ashton Thompson picked up an RBI by hitting a double later in the inning. The score was 3-2 going into the top of the 4th.

But then it looked like it wasn't Rincon Valley's night as the All-Stars gave up 4 more runs in the top of the 4th and were down 7 to 2. But one thing we've learned is that these boys don't quit.

In the bottom of the 5th, Rincon Valley was able to muster up two runs starting off with back to back hits by Caelan Hassett and Bryce Walls.

Rincon Valley was now within striking distance but gave up another run in the top of the 7th. Rincon Valley was on the brink of elimination going into the bottom of the 7th down 8-4.

The bottom of the 7th started off with Bryce Walls hitting a single. Then Marlow Mangada hit a 2-run homer to bring the game to 8 to 6. The bats kept coming after that with Marcus Rubio getting a hard hit. Then back to back doubles by Ashton Thompson and Brady McVay tied the game up. Nathan Bunyard advanced Brady over to 3rd base on a ground ball. Then Trey Tuxhorn hit a walk-off hit to win the game 9 to 8!

Rincon Valley takes on Petaluma again Wednesday night at 5:30. The winner takes home the coveted District 35 Championship Banner. Come out to RVLL to catch the excitement!
